Today, AT&T and Nokia rolled out the Windows Phone Tango update that brought some pretty cool features to the Lumia 900. The Tango update brought flip to silence and adds new MMS features such as attaching multiple Pictures, videos audio notes and ringtones to text messages. Now you can export contacts to the SIM card and can selectively import SIM card contacts to the phone. There is also an update for app purchases in some regions and the default sync time for email has been changed. We have captured the update process below incase you haven’t received the update or this is your first time going through the process.
When you plug your phone in you should see the Zune software checking for an update after the phone is detected. When it locates it you will see the notification on the screen.
Once the update is located you will see a summary of what is in the update and you can decide to install it now or later.
Once you hit the “update now” button you will see the update start to download.
Once the software is downloaded a backup of your phone is created. This may take some time based on how much data is on your phone.
When the backup is completed, the first of three updates will be installed.
When the update is done the phone is rebooted.
After the reboot the first update is completed.
Pretty much as soon as the update is completed the next update will start.
The process is the same as the update is downloaded then installed and finally the phone is rebooted.
After the second update is done the last update is started.
The process being the same the third update is downloaded and installed on your Lumia 900.
Finally once the last update is done your Windows Phone is rebooted.
And then the AT&T Nokia Lumia 900 Tango update is complete.
When you check your phone under settings, then about, you will see the new phone OS version updated to 7.10.8779.8 and the build is now 2175.2301.8779.12223.
