Anytime I travel, I always bring my Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Car Kit as one of my Windows Phone accessories as the two work great together. With the state laws varying so much between states you never know when you need to be hands free with your smartphone therefore, while on a road trip you should always have a Bluetooth speaker phone equipped and the Jabra Cruiser is a great choice. The battery life is great on the device and the call quality is clear also, the Audio controls on the Jabra Cruiser makes listening to music and PodCasts easier.
Features
The listed features on the Jabra Cruiser are what you would expect it to be with things like volume control, support for multiple devices and so on. Here is the list of features listed out by Jabra.
The features include
- Volume Controls on the side of the device
- Adjustable FM Modulator
- Dual Mic’s for Noise Cancellation
- Voice DSP
- Voice announcements
- Connect 2 Devices
- Lighted status display
- 14 hour talk time
- 13 day standby time
- Audio Streamin (A2DP, AVRCP)
What is in the box
The Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth speaker does not come with a ton of contents as it really is not needed. In the box you will find the Bluetooth Speaker, USB cable and a cigarette adapter to charge it. The tip on the USB cable is the same as what is used to charge my Windows Phone devices so that simplifies the amount of things that I need to travel with.
Setting up the Jabra Cruiser With Windows Phone
After charging the Cruiser for two hours, it was time to pair the device with my Windows Phone and this was a piece of cake to accomplish. When turning the Cruiser on for the first time, it will inform you that you need to pair it with a device. Simply have your Windows Phone look for a new Bluetooth device under Settings, Bluetooth and tap the Jabra Cruiser to pair it with your phone if not you just need to hold down the Answer/End Call button for 10 seconds to put it into pairing mode. One of the nice features on the Jabra Cruiser is the audible guidance that is provided by the device, as it will help walk you through the paring process.
Jabra Cruiser Call Quality
Of course, with any Bluetooth Speakerphone you are always concerned with call quality however, we are here to tell you that the Jabra Cruiser performs very well. Not only did the people I called confirm that I sounded good but they sounded good to me too. Furthermore, the Noise Cancellation works well as I could turn on the AC and still be heard.
The Controls On the Cruiser
The Jabra Cruiser controls Windows Phone very well as it comes with various controls for devices. The Answer/End Call button works fine and can be long pressed for voice activation and double tapped for redial. The Audio controls can be used to skip tracks forward and backward without any issue and also fast forward and rewind by pressing and holding. The only downside here is that the Volume does not adjust the phone only the speaker.
Additional Features
As we mentioned earlier, the Jabra Cruiser has many voice confirmations from pairing the phone to audio announcements of callers and even just reconnecting to your device. In addition, the Batter life on the Jabra cruiser is unbelievably good, as it will last for days just sitting in your vehicle without a recharge. Finally, the FM modulator can send audio to your car stereo if you choose to.
Conclusion
If you own a Windows Phone and travel, you cannot go wrong with carrying a Jabra Cruiser with you. The great sound quality will make you happy to use this device while you are driving. The reason I give the Jabra Cruiser the nod over the Cruiser 2 is that the Audio Controls really work well with Windows Phone. If you are in need of a speakerphone grab the Jabra Cruiser Bluetooth Car Kit from Amazon as it is under 50 dollars.
