A recent update to the YouTube App on the Xbox has made it capable of linking your YouTube and Xbox Live accounts together. This will allow you to have access to your YouTube content whenever you log in with your Xbox account.
If you haven’t recently opened the YouTube App you’ll receive the standard Xbox ‘Update Required’ prompt. This update is about 10MB and should download pretty quickly.
Once the download is done Xbox will log you back in to your Live account and the YouTube app will start up after which you will see the new YouTube App layout.
You’ll notice there is a ‘my YouTube’ feature which will allow you to link your Xbox gamertag to your YouTube account.
Selecting the ‘get started’ box will bring you to a set of instruction that requires an activation code and access to your PC to finish the activation process.
Enter the activation code after browsing to the designated website and click ‘continue’.
You will be prompted as to whether or not you want to allow YouTube on Xbox Live, selecting ‘Allow access’ will bring you to the ‘success’ screen. You will now notice that on your Xbox the Activation screen changes to your ‘my YouTube’ and will display any content you currently have available in your YouTube account.
Happy YouTubing from your Xbox game console. This is a great way to share your favorite videos when logging in to Xbox. If you have kids it’s a great way to make sure only ‘approved’ content is accessible if they log into your profile.
