As user start taking advantage of the built-in apps in Windows 8 there are a few tip that you will need to know such as multi selecting email messages. Multi selecting messages is s huge part f using email as you may want to mark 3 or 4 of them for deletion at the same time or even just marking them as read however, how you do it, may not be that obvious. In this article, we will walk you through how to multi-select messages in Windows 8.

Multi select messages with a mouse

Using your mouse to multi select email messages is simple enough as all you have to do is right click on each message. As you do, you will see a check mark show up next to each message denoting they are selected for an action.

 

Multi Select email messages with a Keyboard

Believe it or not you can actually multi select messages with just the keyboard alone. All you have to do is use the arrow keys to highlight the message you want and hit the Ctrl key plus the enter key to select it. Now while holding down the Ctrl key use the arrows to get to the next message you want and hit enter again. Repeat this process until all the messages you want are selected then you can take whatever action you want. (note: you don’t have to hold the Ctrl key down the whole time however before you attempt to select another message by using the arrows you must hold it down first or you will have to start over.

Multi select messages with your finger

Finally, you can also multi select email messages by using your fingers on a touch screen Windows 8 device like the new Surface Tablet. In your email just tap the first message you want to select then swipe the next message from left to right to and both with messages will be checked. Continue  swiping each additional message that you want to select and when you are done you can perform your action.
