Recently, using my HTC Titan Windows Phone 7 device, I was recording a video of my son and unfortunately, when I received a phone call, the audio dropped out of the recording. I have the audio from the beginning of the recording up until the point the call came in but nothing afterwards. If you are recording an important event, try turning on “Airplane Mode”.
This issue seems to be a bug in the HTC Titan’s implementation of Windows Phone 7 or an incomplete component as we agree with how Phone 7 prioritizes audio. It makes sense that audio from a phone call would take priority over the camera however audio should return to the recoding once the call is over.
Phone calls are not the only thing that can ruin your video recording as it seems other methods of communications such as SMS and Email knocks out the audio portion of your precious moment creating a high definition version of a silent era movie. I do have to say that at least I have the video and can add music to it where as an iPhone actually stops recording all together. The Samsung Focus S handles phone calls by continuing to record with audio even though a call is coming in however, once the call is accepted the recording is stopped.
I am sure Microsoft will figure out a process for the Windows Phone 7 Video Recording issue. We would like to see an option in the camera to disable communications or at least keep the audio by switching the priority. Before you attempt to capture those precious moments of babies first steps, a child’s first visit to Mr. Potty or any other big childhood moments, ensure that all external communications (emails and SMS) are disabled.
